People who inspire me

I met Basamma on the pink wagon today. Basamma is a conductor(Bus No. 171).
Today I found her suckling her baby “Vinayaka” and also giving us tickets. That made me wonder why she couldn’t have taken a leave instead of bringing her child to the bus. Curious, I asked her, her story.
Basamma starts her work at 6am before which she cooks food for her family members, feeds her child and heads for work. Her child who is six months old is brought to Majestic bus stop by Basamma’s mother- in-law during lunch hour, so that he would be fed in the bus. Basamma said that she could not have taken more leaves for she needs to support her family. At the same time she also understands that her child needs her. and hence the women decided to find a way out and to bring the child during lunch break so that she could feed him.

Thankfully Basamma works for the Pink Wagon and this makes her life easy.Where there is a will there is a way. Basamma,You inspire me to work hardand give my best come what may.

The pink wagon

Not a wagon exactly but yes!!!! Here comes the pink Bus.. Womens only, Men not allowed. YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..

Today I got into the pink bus on roads for women only. And its a beauty. Firstly the interiors are really nice. Comfortable lavender coloured cushion seats and enough space to stand. The most Important of course the whole bus is just for us: women. So no more eve teasing and men feeling us tensions or no more cramming in the front half of the bus. The bus also has a mirror near the door , so that we women can look at ourself before we get down. And also FM Rainbow playing on the Radio.. What more does a woman want.

Right now there are about 25 buses plying on the roads mostly towards Jayanagar, Koramangala, Electronic city etc ( atleast thats what I observed on my trip to Majestic bus stop). I hope we get more buses to many more areas

Independence day gift from BMTC sure did put a lot of smiles on all women and girls faces..

Protection or Subjugation?

‘Scrap night shift for women’ said an article in “The Times Of India“. A wonder ful solution by All India Mahila Samskruthika Sanghatane.

“They said night shifts were the reason that prompted the murder of Pratibha Srikanth Murthy, an employee of HP. H G Jayalakshmi, one of the organisers, said: “Women employees of call centres are definitely not safe working at nights because crimes and atrocities against women are on the rise even in broad daylight,’’ she said. The members demanded that the change in Factory Act approving night shifts for women be scrapped immediately. AIDYO members also demanded that HP should take responsibility”

I thought incidents like Pratibha murthy’s rape and murder would increase security measures in the city. Instead a “Women’s Organisation ” is actually asking for night shift s for women to be scrapped??!!??…

What next should we women expect?
1)Tell women not to work, For they get eve-teased,harrased while commuting to work & at work place.
2)Tell women to wear a burkha, dark glasses, socks, gloves, Because every single body part of hers instigates a man to rape her,
3)Tell girls not to go to anywhere, better still ,let her stay at home , for thats the most safest place.
4)Safest place did i say, oh no, let her stay alone, cause there are even uncles, fathers, brothers, cousins, neighbours who try to rape her.

Where is a woman really safe? What kind of an women’s organisation is this??Instead of fighting for better security. It actually wants women to not work at night because of some maniac out there ???.. Shame on such organisations.
