Long time no see

“Long time no see” Thats what all my friends have been saying for a few weeks.. The not to be seen phenomenon is not restricted to my blog but also extended to my real life. Spent a week thinking about my paper submissions. Spent another writing them. I havent yet finished. Need to finish all of them. But yes Iam satisfied with what I wrote.

These few days have been pretty revealing. I was feeling a bit low in the beginning for I realised that there was lot of competition at college and friendships didnt matter to others . Also realised I have been too nice to a few people. It was difficult to cut those relationships and move on. But had to do so for it did effect my self esteem. So after finishing that chapter, I moved back to my life.I also quit orkut. Ha.. big deal.. I dont miss it at all.. It was sheer waste of time and I got so addicted to it that I really wanted to run away from it.

Met a really interesting friend,His name is Iyer, Arvind Iyer. Absolut Iyer as he prefers to call himself is very sweet and intelligent chap. A friend who makes me laugh. One can lean on him when one is down and trust me he will get you smiling in just a few seconds.A complete media guy. Entertains you with his great jokes (although I will laugh at all his PJs too) . Absolute fun… And all the beautiful gals guess what he is single and ready to mingle.

Got my exams coming up in a few days. So got to study hard this time. Dont want to miss all the incentives that sunshine is ready to gift me. My best friend Sunshine is back after his visit to Germany . And…. Nothing much happening otherwise.. its all nice and peaceful in Shubhs wonderland.. C ya all after my exams hopefully with something interesting to write about

People who inspire me

I met Basamma on the pink wagon today. Basamma is a conductor(Bus No. 171).
Today I found her suckling her baby “Vinayaka” and also giving us tickets. That made me wonder why she couldn’t have taken a leave instead of bringing her child to the bus. Curious, I asked her, her story.
Basamma starts her work at 6am before which she cooks food for her family members, feeds her child and heads for work. Her child who is six months old is brought to Majestic bus stop by Basamma’s mother- in-law during lunch hour, so that he would be fed in the bus. Basamma said that she could not have taken more leaves for she needs to support her family. At the same time she also understands that her child needs her. and hence the women decided to find a way out and to bring the child during lunch break so that she could feed him.

Thankfully Basamma works for the Pink Wagon and this makes her life easy.Where there is a will there is a way. Basamma,You inspire me to work hardand give my best come what may.

The pink wagon

Not a wagon exactly but yes!!!! Here comes the pink Bus.. Womens only, Men not allowed. YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..

Today I got into the pink bus on roads for women only. And its a beauty. Firstly the interiors are really nice. Comfortable lavender coloured cushion seats and enough space to stand. The most Important of course the whole bus is just for us: women. So no more eve teasing and men feeling us tensions or no more cramming in the front half of the bus. The bus also has a mirror near the door , so that we women can look at ourself before we get down. And also FM Rainbow playing on the Radio.. What more does a woman want.

Right now there are about 25 buses plying on the roads mostly towards Jayanagar, Koramangala, Electronic city etc ( atleast thats what I observed on my trip to Majestic bus stop). I hope we get more buses to many more areas

Independence day gift from BMTC sure did put a lot of smiles on all women and girls faces..

Realisation strikes

Its a lazy saturday afternoon. I havent been blogging much except for my poems. Deeps wedding went on well and he is off for his honeymoon. I am happy for him at the same time, I do miss my bro. Probably I am the only sis’ who cried when my bro’ got married. It was the bidaai of the groom for me . But ya… the hug and the reassurance that he will always be there made me feel better. Yes!!!! I am possesive about my bro.
I fell sick after the wedding. Was on bed rest for 3 days and then came the internal exams which ended today. Iam sure to flunk for I wrote my own theories on Culture, Critical and Post- Colonial theory.Surely all the critics and theorists will turn in the grave reading my analysis of their work and the people who will be even more shocked are my lecturers. I am so ashamed of myself.

BUT…..I have made my resolution. Iam going to study smart from today. No more Yudhdhakaale Shashtrabhyasa. This Gal is going to kick some exam butt this year and ya write her own theory some day……Do I see the future student generation wondering why I was born already?

Things that make one smile

Yes.. I crib about the city for all the traffic heartburns, the bad roads , my auto woes etc. Every city has its own good and bad. I loved Mumbai and I hated it too..Mumbai is a wonderful city when it comes to the people and the beautiful sea. Bangalore can be adored too for its lakes. Sadly the lakes are being filled in the name of development. One such lake I passed by today was the Hebbal lake.

It was sunset time. Orange background,The white clouds hiding the sun,a little tint of light blue. Silver waters and waving reflection of the green trees. I was passing the lake in a bus and the scene looked really romantic. All I wished was to stop and enjoy its beauty.

I could also see that the lake was slowly dying thanks to a cover of green weeds. Something needs to be done about this. Prashanth, For people who question about cribbing on our blogs; that its easier to point out whats wrong and difficult to do something about it. I would like to say that I write this blog to discuss the issues that bother me about this city and hope that we do something to preserve the city. But what do they do by just leaving comments about others crib?

Its only when you look at things critically that you find the goodness in it too.. So lets stop bothering about them and keep posting more about our city. We care and thats why we bother.

Bangalore renamed

Bangalore renamed by shubhs.
From now on I decided bangalore is renamed as “Jamsgalore”. After all the jams I went through on the weekend and also lost many strands of my pretty silk hair waiting for the auto to move, I conclude that Bangalore seriously needs some good traffic management and road manners classes. Till such a measure is implemented Bangalore is no more to be called by its beautiful name or by the name the Govt is planning to name it ( bengalooru).

So welcome to “Jamsgalore”, formerly known as a garden city, pensioners paradise and a beautiful city; now known as the most jammed crowded city .
Namma Jamsgalore Namma hemme?

Auto Woes Continued

Guess I can post one every week.. My Auto woes are never ending.. This time I was shocked that they could be so insensitive..
Mom has been undergoing physiotherapy now. Her legs better now but still she cant walk minus her crutches and she limps still ( and all this thanks to our very own BMP and their wonderful potholes and footpath digging). Every day its a task for me to find an auto to take her to the hospital in Vasanthnagar from my home. Here is the scene near police station auto stand

Me: Mahaveer Jain Hospital, Vasanthnagar bartheera?

Auto one: Illa
Auto two: Illa avaranna keli ( This goes on for a few autos )
Auto seven: Hmm ok..

Me: (happy) ok!! ondu swalpa 6th cross inda hogbeku. patient idhare. avaranna pick up madbeku

Auto seven: Patientaaa.. Illa barolla madam..

Me: ( shocked) What?????.. ( and I heard it right)

So this continues everyday for many autos. and I wait for many minutes before I get an auto to take mom to the hospital..

The situation aint different at the auto stand besides the hospital.. I have to keep asking many auto guys before they agree to come to my home.

Autos are supposedly public service vehicles.. and Damn I need to go through all this crap before I get a good guy to take my mom to the hospital and back..Whatever happened to humanity and all those values.. I have decided that tomorrow if I have to go through this again, Iam heading straight to the police station and asking them to lend me their jeep to take mom or get me an auto.

Other crazy incident I went through this week is with the BMTC drivers.. A driver apparently blew his top because I was on hands free asking my friend for directions to go to a place.. I was sitting in the middle and apparently my whispering into the phone disturbed the bus driver who was about 3 seats before mine.. I would have understood his yelling if I was besides him or if it was the conductor yelling but this guy just blew his top for nothing. There was no board in the bus which prohibited me from speaking on my own mobile phone whose bills I pay..Moreover why have mobile phones if we cant talk…The Govt and their idiotic rules.

Life is really beautiful, you just need to sit back and look

Ups and downs a part of life.. Wont ever say die.. and will always spring back to life…

A few minutes of silence.. a day of introspection and a hug from Nittu….And here Iam..

Back to work.. Back to studies..

Digging a nice deep pit..to bury the ghosts from past.. and giving the contract to ghost busters( my own heart and brain) to keep them away..

Life aint so difficult now.. all I needed was a little TLC, which I got from my own 2 kids..

Love you Tom and Nittu..You are the best stress busters around.. ..

Boy!! Dogs truly are man’s ( huh…. How damn patriarchal !!! ahem!!!) human beings best friend..
