Save Nirali

18-month old cute Nirali Naik has been diagnosed with a rare type of Acute Lymphoblast Leukemia and needs a marrow transplant to be treated. She needs a bone marrow donation from a Indian/South Asian donor. Since Indians are a minority race in USA, in the national marrow registry, there aren’t as many Indians registered and as a result, the possibility of a match is much less for patients of Indian origin. There’s no organized marrow registry in India either that we can look for a match in.

Nirali is going through chemotherapy treatment right now but this type of ALL has a great chance of relapse if not treated with a bone marrow transplant.

Please consider saving Nirali’s life. Here is how you can help

People who inspire me

I met Basamma on the pink wagon today. Basamma is a conductor(Bus No. 171).
Today I found her suckling her baby “Vinayaka” and also giving us tickets. That made me wonder why she couldn’t have taken a leave instead of bringing her child to the bus. Curious, I asked her, her story.
Basamma starts her work at 6am before which she cooks food for her family members, feeds her child and heads for work. Her child who is six months old is brought to Majestic bus stop by Basamma’s mother- in-law during lunch hour, so that he would be fed in the bus. Basamma said that she could not have taken more leaves for she needs to support her family. At the same time she also understands that her child needs her. and hence the women decided to find a way out and to bring the child during lunch break so that she could feed him.

Thankfully Basamma works for the Pink Wagon and this makes her life easy.Where there is a will there is a way. Basamma,You inspire me to work hardand give my best come what may.

The pink wagon

Not a wagon exactly but yes!!!! Here comes the pink Bus.. Womens only, Men not allowed. YIPPIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..

Today I got into the pink bus on roads for women only. And its a beauty. Firstly the interiors are really nice. Comfortable lavender coloured cushion seats and enough space to stand. The most Important of course the whole bus is just for us: women. So no more eve teasing and men feeling us tensions or no more cramming in the front half of the bus. The bus also has a mirror near the door , so that we women can look at ourself before we get down. And also FM Rainbow playing on the Radio.. What more does a woman want.

Right now there are about 25 buses plying on the roads mostly towards Jayanagar, Koramangala, Electronic city etc ( atleast thats what I observed on my trip to Majestic bus stop). I hope we get more buses to many more areas

Independence day gift from BMTC sure did put a lot of smiles on all women and girls faces..

Realisation strikes

Its a lazy saturday afternoon. I havent been blogging much except for my poems. Deeps wedding went on well and he is off for his honeymoon. I am happy for him at the same time, I do miss my bro. Probably I am the only sis’ who cried when my bro’ got married. It was the bidaai of the groom for me . But ya… the hug and the reassurance that he will always be there made me feel better. Yes!!!! I am possesive about my bro.
I fell sick after the wedding. Was on bed rest for 3 days and then came the internal exams which ended today. Iam sure to flunk for I wrote my own theories on Culture, Critical and Post- Colonial theory.Surely all the critics and theorists will turn in the grave reading my analysis of their work and the people who will be even more shocked are my lecturers. I am so ashamed of myself.

BUT…..I have made my resolution. Iam going to study smart from today. No more Yudhdhakaale Shashtrabhyasa. This Gal is going to kick some exam butt this year and ya write her own theory some day……Do I see the future student generation wondering why I was born already?

To sunshine and angel

pitter patter
the raindrops fall
on my window sill
the sound of the rain
brings back the giggling
of angels and sunshine
on a lazy afternoon
In the cosy corner
gazing into eyes
the smiles of joy
the shared piece
of happiness.
smiles and more
laughter and joy
in the arms
of the one you love
