The wedding bells

The union of
the bride and the groom.
A happy future
built in dreams
Preparations go on
in full swing

“Traditional is passe”
The new generation vows
to bring in a change
Nothing new, Nothing new
All’s the same

The menu card comes
promising a huge bill.
Frowned faces,and cost cutting,
Faces invited, gifts purchased
An useless pleasing

The missing piece of
vegetable in the broth,
discussed in my absence
the diety not pleased
And God feeds on my poverty

Jingle Jingle
The wedding bells ring
Bring out the banjo
Dance and sing
and let my pockets
empty within

CUPA activities

These are a few recent happenings at CUPA

Goldman Sachs worked with us for 10 days in various sessions spread over 2 months. They did up a part of the garden, painted the boarding kennels, the corridor and the pup room; they bathed all the shelter doggies. Apart from this they conducted a canine therapy program in one institution. Apart from this they did something which just brought a smile on our face. They flew down the most renowned, world famous and best photographer in the world, Steve McCurry (of the Nat geo fame), to take pictures on Cupa and our activities, last week. He was with us for 2 days. (Even George Bush cannot get him to work for him). So we are famous.:-) He is going to send us the pictures soon .So keep checking this blog for those.

Adoption Programmes:

We have 5 little calves with us now. All abandoned. One is a buffalo boy, 3 are female calves and one is a baby bull. And also with the calves come our little pups and cats who are eager to be a part of your family. Indian dogs are the best for our climate and they are as beautiful and loyal as any other breed. So visit CUPA and say hi to a new friend.

And of course ,you can help us achieve these goals:

The Kengeri centre needs lots of funds to get it set up. Water is logging in the land and we have to raise the land by 5 feet to get the place running. We are going to have a Dog show in the first week of November this year. The proceeds of the show will help set up the Kengeri unit. There will be a ramp walk whereyou canwalk your dogs. Prizes will be given to them for categories like Most Disobedient, Most curly tail, etc. After the show there will be a performance by artists. There will be stalls on the grounds selling a variety of products and food items. So get your naughty Pups to strut their stuff and let them charm us with style.

Apart from this all our other regular activities are going fine. We continue with our canine therapy, rural camps, human education programs, etc. Thank you all for all your support in making this world a beautiful place to live in.

For more details on the programmes, Contact CUPA at 22947312 and 313.

Mumbai

A big bang
in the distant suburbs.
Metal splinters
pierce through
the skin,
Screams and yells.
Pain flashed
for the world to see
Tears, blood
and gore
For some
It was business
“We are the first”
and the most insensitive
For some,
Hearts bled
drops of hot tears
flowed like a river
Some rejoiced
drinking glassful
of yeasted drink
But still the city
sprung back
with a vengence
Smiles flashed
Peace prevailed
Hands joined together
to say
You can never defeat us
for we are strong
We face life head on
We never say die
Come what may
You wont win
Cause we are
The angels of peace

Mumbai: A place where I was born. The place which made me the person Iam,The place which taught me to appreciate life and live life to the fullest. The place which taught me to dream and also to achieve my dreams..

This poem dedicated to Majhi Mumbai. Tu nehmi ashich sundar raho, heech majhi iccha
